I think I've become addicted to usability testing lately, or any kind of feedback about our business, product or website. As much as it hurts to hear a negative comment - it just feels so good to hear the positive feedback  :-)

You probably heard it more than once before that you only have one chance with your website visitor, that you have about 8 seconds to make a first impression, that you have to make everything SUPER SIMPLE in order to get people to give you a shot and that even the most trivial problem with the site or product will cause your prospects to start running to the hills.

Being a techie I sometimes think, "it's not a big deal... they just have to figure it out".... THEY WON'T they will just leave and you won't even know why.

I've been using tools like usertesting.com, feedbackarmy.com and easyusability.com to try and get feedback on the site design and ease of use, we also use optimizely.appspot.com to test diffrent versions of the same page, button or image.

I'll submit another post about the interesting results I got from the A/B testing i've been doing, it's quite interesting.

What was I trying to say? Ah Google - I think they got it wrong. Not that I am saying that what they're doing with adwords is right.

I tried to download Chrome today, so I went to Google and searched for 'Chrome', this is the result:

What would you click? "Download and install Google Chrome" ? Exactly what I did!

Step 3

I got to this help page and looked around for a Download button for a few seconds without success, then I decided to click the "Windows instructions"

 

Step 4

Ok now I see a lot more text but still can't find the download button, I'm starting to think maybe I should go back to the search results or maybe go to a good torrent site, LOL :-)

Eventually I decided to click the "Visit http://www.google.com/chrome" but was really thinking that it will take me to the page I started on.

I can't believe it, but I think I got it! there it is the download button is right there.
